Dear Mom,
I'm so happy I finally got the chance to write to you. It's tough, but we just need to keep fighting. A few weeks ago I was thinking about leaving the army. My contract was up and I had no hope in General Washington's plans, but now I have decided to renew my contract. A days weeks ago we drove the British out of New York. Many of the soldiers were complaining for a lack of food and supplies and I was one of them. If something didn't happen soon then we said we would leave the army. Then, General Washington came up with a genius plan. He planned it perfectly. |
On Christmas night, we crept along the frozen Delaware River. The ride was brutal but the plan was brilliant. As we got to the other side, we slowly crept upon the British soldiers. They would've never guessed that they would be attacked on Christmas night, so we surprised them. Our 2400 men swooped upon them and attacked. Their 1400 men stood no chance in a surprise attack. We crushed them. I am now reenlisting in the Continental Army because I have new hope that General Washington will lead us to victory.
Yours Truly, Luke |
